Oral Surgery for the General Practitioner

This 3-day surgical program is intended for dentists with minimal to moderate surgical experience. This course will provide the fundamentals required to understand how to interpret medical, clinical and radiographic information in order to perform oral surgery predictably. Clinicians will be able to build a solid foundation to perform both complex extractions AND remove impacted wisdom teeth. The 2-day hands-on portion of this course will give all participants the confidence and ability to perform significantly more surgery in their practice the next day!

Day 1

  • How to predict the simplicity or complexity of extractions.
  • Knowledge and management of normal sequelae, risks, and complications associated with extractions.
  • Armamentarium and proper use of instruments.
  • Understanding oral anatomy and flap design.
  • Hands-on incision and suturing techniques.
  • Techniques to remove ANY tooth including impacted wisdom teeth.

Day 2

  • Observation of extraction techniques on Live Patients.
  • Participants to perform multiple extraction cases on their own patients.

Day 3

  • Full Day – Participants to remove wisdom teeth from their own patients.
